Eva Halland has 40 years of experience from Petroleum and CCUS, from the Norwegian Offshore Directorate and the last three years as Managing Director of CarbonGeo, as consultant and strategic advisor. She was the project leader for the Norwegian CO₂ Storage Atlas and led the CCS work with regulation and professional assessment for the authorities. She has contributed and advised several CCUS projects and studies worldwide, adviser to the EU Commission, the World Bank and the project manager for CO2 transport and storage at the CCUS Norway member organization.
She lectures in CCUS at universities, has contributed to educational books and articles on CCS, given presentations and courses worldwide and in advisory boards for several of the EU projects on CO2 storage and value chain.

The First Mile CCS Logistics Solution for Small and Mid-size Emitters
CCS logistics is one of the challenges that need to be solved. The energy transformation requires effective and all-encompassing solutions to capture and transport CO₂. Captured CO₂ may either be utilized in industrial processes or stored permanently. Norway is hosting the first large-scale CCS value chain project through Northern Lights. This is, however, not set up to capture the coming and required flow of CO₂ from small- and medium-volume emitters.
The first mile – i.e., handling of CO₂ from emitter to storage – requires flexible and scalable solutions. ACUS has been working together with partners UMOE Composite and ASCO over the past few years, focusing on these challenges.

09.00: ACUS – Who Are We?
ACUS was engaged in the Danish first CO₂ onshore storage application round (2023–24), on behalf of a major European emitter. In addition to delivering a comprehensive logistics and CO₂ storage study, we conduct various advisory services. Since 2020, ACUS has established close cooperation with European partners — both emitters and logistics providers. The CO₂ management concept in the ‘Danish case’ was based on multimodal logistics solutions and de-risking of underground storages.
ACUS has strong multidisciplinary competence within geoscience and reservoirs, drilling and wells, supply chain management, project management, and logistics.

Currently installing carbon capture at their Sauda melting plant, however without any supply chain to take the CO₂ for storage or alternative use.
11.15: Møkster Shipping
Planning to install a CO₂ capture system on one of their platform supply vessels. Their main challenge is that there is no supply chain to handle the CO₂ once it is placed on the quayside in a transport tank.
11.30: Lyse Biogas
Planning to establish several biogas plants. For the time being, they may emit the CO₂ they sequester from raw methane, since biogas is classified as climate neutral. There could be a market, e.g., greenhouses that currently truck in CO₂ over long distances.
11.45: A Possible Regional Solution – CCS Rogaland
The CCS Rogaland concept: Can cooperation among multiple partners located in Rogaland offer a possible solution for CCS logistics to a collection point, and — in the longer term — access to storage for small- to medium-volume emitters?
